Image-to-image (i2i) is a generation mode that takes your uploaded reference image and produces a new image guided by it — while respecting the original composition, layout and style. It's the difference between "start from scratch" and "iterate from what you already have."

What i2i Lets You Do

• Style transfer: keep the composition, change the art direction.
• Regeneration: produce variations of an existing image for A/B testing.
• Refinement: nudge a result toward what you pictured, without a full re-prompt.
• Consistency: keep characters, products or scenes recognizably the same across a series.

How It Works in LongCat

1. Open the Studio and switch to Image to Image.
2. Upload a reference image — it's stored privately, with thumbnail and file info shown in the form.
3. Describe what should change (or what should stay).
4. Generate. You can delete the reference and re-upload at any time before generating.

Tips for Better Results

• Use a clean reference — the result inherits its strengths and flaws.
• Describe deltas, not absolutes: "keep the pose, change the lighting to neon" works better than a full rewrite.
• Mind the aspect ratio — the output matches your chosen format.
• Iterate in place — delete and re-upload to try a different reference quickly.
